The Visserspad is a green connection of 1 kilometer between the station of Sint-Genesius-Rode and the Sonian Forest. The path runs along the historic ponds of Lansrode to the Geevaert pond. At the beginning of the 13th century, these breeding ponds were constructed by the Abbey of La Cambre in the source area of the Molenbeek valley. They had to supply the monasteries with fish.
Until the 18th century, the ponds and surrounding forests were part of the Sonian Forest and are home to numerous rare animals: red-tailed bat, Iepenpage, stag beetle, etc. In 2014, the Regional Landscape Pajottenland & Zennevallei gave the Visserspad a makeover. A handful of information boards give passers-by enlightening information about the animals and plants you can spot.
