The Aisch is an almost 83 km long left and southwestern tributary of the Regnitz in Middle and Upper Franconia.
The Aisch rises from a gypsum karst spring about one and a quarter kilometers south of the center of Schwebheim and about five kilometers south-west of Bad Windsheim
In Illesheim, after about 2 km, the Aisch flows into the almost 15 km long Ens, which is often regarded as the upper reaches because of its greater length. The Aisch is routed through the Franconian Open-Air Museum in Bad Windsheim and flows via Neustadt an der Aisch and Höchstadt an der Aisch near Trailsdorf (north of Forchheim) into the Regnitz.
