What is special about the Rehhübel is that the individual layers of the greywacke quartzite are bent to the point where they "overturn" - i.e. an "overturned fold" is clearly visible.

During the folding, the rock was torn in many places, and quartz filled the gaps. The lighter quartz shows up in white veins in the rock. This is unique in Europe on this scale and the Rehhübel also shows a piece of geological history in our Vogtland.
