As a result of the devastating floods, a 7.5-kilometer-long dyke system was built along the Rhine and the Wied as far as the Rasselstein plant from 1928-1931.
On the 500-meter-long dike wall in front of the city center there is a level tower and "Deichkrone" (striking landmark) as well as the statue of Mayor Robert Krups, the initiator of the dyke construction.

Nice walk in front of the dike in the former castle park in the style of an English landscape garden. Re-mouth, lots of play and seating .... In front of the castle, the path turns into a promenade that is currently being renovated and is not accessible. The alternative route over the promenade on the dike crown is at least as beautiful, you can walk further over the Götheanlage and the "Deichstadtweg" to the Rhine bridge and the marina.
