On May 21, 1844, the foundation stone of today's church was laid, the solemn consecration of which was carried out in 1851 by Cardinal Johann von Geißel. At the time the church was 24 meters long and 15 meters wide. It was built in the classical style according to plans by Richard Castenholz from Büllingen.

Pilgrim's stamp is in the church. The detour is also worthwhile because of the small appetite in between. There is a very good bakery there. Pay attention to the opening times and there is also a butcher shop right by the church.
