In 1723, the first six Jewish families moved into the building, later called the Judenschlössle, on what is now Strombergstrasse. Thus began Jewish life in Freudental.

The Judenschlössle Freudental was built in 1614 as a servants' house for the upper castle. The house was inhabited by the first Jews in Freudental, the six-household family of Seligmann Wolf from Flehingen. These first Jewish families were taken in by Baron Johann Gottlieb Zobel von Giebelstadt as protected Jews in 1723. The Freudental synagogue is located in the immediate vicinity. Until this was built, the Judenschlössle was also used as a prayer house.
