In the hilly moor landscape near Schönwald you will find the legendary Blindensee. The lake is the most beautiful in the morning, when clouds of fog from the moorland dive the black-looking lake into an eerie mood. In the Middle Ages, it was believed that all waters in the world were connected by an underground ocean. According to the legend, a farmer fell asleep on his oxcart at Blindensee and went down with his wagon in the moor. Days later, however, he is said to have reappeared at Kehl am Rhein with his oxen.

As one of the few still intact bogs of the Black Forest worth a recommendation in any case. Until 1100 AD. The moor could develop completely unaffected by humans. Even then, peat was never mined on a large scale, so that the moor still grows. Every year about 1mm.

The Blindensee unfolds its magic in every season. With the windmill reflected in the water, absolute nature and modern technology come together. A place of rest and gathering, if you are there for two, will fall into a whisper during the conversation. Be sure to visit and show respect for nature

Narrow wooden walkway leads through the forest over the moor to the beautiful Blindsee. There, a few benches invite you to rest in the sun; with a view over the lake. It is relatively narrow with the stroller and bicycles should be pushed so that oncoming pedestrians are not pushed off the path. ;)
