This place is said to have been a Celtic sun altar where solstice celebrations and other cult festivals were held. It is not difficult to imagine that. The sun-drenched place seems predestined for it. The place is said to be surrounded by a mysterious atmosphere, the energies and lines of force of which can still be felt.

It is most beautiful to be there in the evening when the sun shines its last rays through the trees from the west. We happened to come in on a Sunday evening when we returned from the Schänzle when a university professor celebrated the cult of Mother Earth with a South American from the Andes (presumably Bolivia, wearing clothes). It was very solemn because she sacrificed some gifts and sprinkled the rock with red wine. She spun cigar smoke and danced something.
An unforgettable experience.
