The Luhequelle was discovered around 100 years ago in a small depression in the middle of extensive heathland. Today it only shows itself modestly under the pines. The Luhe runs largely underground and only emerges as a small river in Bispingen. In Winsen it leads to the Ilmenau and later to the Elbe.

Anyone planning the Luhequelle as a cool, clear water source to replenish their water supplies should be told here: The picture is different. The actual source is underground. There are two small ponds, but they are algae and difficult to access. A water filter will have a hard time with this water, if you can even get to it.Instead, there is a bench, a stamping point and lots of idyll to enjoy.

Imagine no bubbling spring, but an idyllic piece of earth in the forest with benches to rest and a view of the "source" of the Luhe.
