The only preserved city gate from the end of the 14th century

The lower gate is the only preserved city gate of 4 city gates in Bietigheim-Bissingen, built at the end of the 14th century. Hump block in secondary use from the partially destroyed castle. Shell tower construction around 1500 closed by a half-timbered wall, at the same time half-timbered construction. Roof lantern with bell to announce the closing of the gate (16th century). Portcullis grooves. About portcullis coat of arms of the Counts of Württemberg.). Lateral pedestrian gates instead of loopholes only since the beginning of the 1930s.
