Sculpture - Tower of the Gray Horses -1993, aluminum, Hillerplatz - By Jürgen Goertz (*1939) - Bietigheim-Bissingen

Like the lower end of the main street through the "Kuhriosum", the upper old town in Bietigheim-Bissingen is also characterized by a work by Jürgen Goertz: The Tower of the Grey Horses. His multi-part design of the square fulfills two important urban planning tasks. It forms the vanishing point and end of the upper main street, which have been missing since the demolition of the Obertorturm in 1824, and it connects the rather heterogeneous buildings around the square to form a closed ensemble. The dominant element is the approximately 11-meter-high horse tower.

One thing is certain: with this sculpture, the sculptor Jürgen Goertz has created a lasting landmark for Bietigheim-Bissingen - whether you like his sculptures or not!
And the city is thus prominently showing its openness to the arts. Here figurative and ironic, elsewhere also abstract and clear.
