The building was built in 1552 in the Renaissance style. It became famous on November 7, 1632, when the corpse of the Swedish king Gustav II Adolf, who had been killed at Lützen, was dissected and embalmed here by the local pharmacist, so that he could be transferred to Sweden and buried there. Since 1725 the courthouse, there is now a museum with a diorama depicting the Battle of Lützen with 10,000 tin figures.

The house, built in 1552 in the Renaissance style with a niche portal and bay window, initially served as a residential building, and from 1555 as an Electoral Saxon escort house.
The escort house became historically significant in November 1632, when the Swedish King Gustav II Adolf, who was mortally wounded in the Battle of Lützen (Nov. 6 or 16, 1632), had an autopsy on the first floor and prepared for his return to Stockholm.

Since 1931, to commemorate the events of November 1632, there has been a large diorama of the Battle of Lützen (approx. 10,000 pewter figures) in this house. In addition to the diorama and the contemporary autopsy room, the other rooms on the first floor house an exhibition on the Thirty Years' War (1618 - 1648) and its effects on Weißenfels.
In addition, there is currently an Irish pub in the house.

One of the most historic buildings in the city. Originally built for Hieronymus Kiesewetter, who became Chancellor of Saxony under Elector Augustus in 1553 and who therefore moved to Dresden. As a Saxon convoy, it served as a protective escort, troop change, horse change and tax institution. However, it became part of world history on November 17, 1632, when the Swedish King Gustav II Adolf, who died in the Battle of Lützen during the Thirty Years' War, was autopsied and embalmed here by the Weißenfels pharmacist Kaspar König. This is where the funeral procession through Saxony and Brandenburg to the Pomeranian port of Wolgast started, where the body was laid out for a long time and finally transported by ship to Stockholm and buried on June 22, 1634 in Riddarholms Church. In Lützen, at the traditional place where the corpse was found after the battle, there is a boulder that was covered with a canopy in 1837. Other memorial buildings followed later.
