On the Reformation day in 1817, the Luther oak was planted to mark the 300th anniversary of the attack on Martin Luther's 95 theses. At that time, since the Taunus slopes were not as densely forested as they are today, the small plateau on which the oak stands still offered a wonderful view over the Gothic House to Homburg. As early as the 1830s, tables and benches were set up for the "convenience of walking bathers"; he had the terrace rebuilt and a wooden house erected as a shelter. Today the Luther oak is over 20 meters high, has a trunk circumference of 2.50 meters and is protected as a natural monument. However, the view is blocked by the trees.

The tree was planted on the occasion of the 300 year reformation festival on October 31, 1817 and is therefore over 500 years old. It is an impressive size.
Unfortunately, he is probably a victim of climate change, hopefully he will survive.

Unfortunately, this natural monument has been trimmed to such an extent that it can no longer really be called a natural monument.
