The first jumping hill was already in Etzelwang in 1935. In the 1950s, however, DAV Noris Nürnberg played a major role in the creation of the 30 meter natural hill at Brennberg. Poor snow conditions in the 1980s and a lack of young talent brought the end of the Norisschanze. The last official competition was in February 1986, until 1995 it was used by local youth.
