If you want to test his climbing ability in the low mountain range, then the Höhenglücksteig is definitely worth a detour. With a difficulty of up to D (and even D / E in places), it is one of the toughest high mountain via ferrata. But you can avoid the difficult spots or there are alternative routes (such as right at the beginning). The via ferrata is divided into 3 parts: Part 1 has the difficult entry with alternative and in the middle the Wittmann chicane, which is also provided with a warning sign. This part better go only, who is practiced and otherwise just walk past below. In Part 2, there are no difficult spots, but a cave that is easy to get through, but unsecured. The short third part is almost continuous D. Who still has strength and the necessary experience, can complete the round with it.

The Höhenglücksteig is a very scenic via ferrata. It is also accessible in winter. Even experienced climbers should not do without a self-belay, as the rock is already very thin in places.
The via ferrata is divided into 3 sections.

Really super nice via ferrata. Sometimes to “climb” something completely different, almost exclusively in the horizontal, but not much less demanding.
The first part is relatively demanding, but still suitable for beginners.
The Wittmann chicane should only be done with experience and, if necessary, climbing shoes, as there are only small, natural steps. But can easily be bypassed.
Part 2 is not a problem, but it is still very nice 😊The third part is definitely the most demanding. A locking loop can definitely help. If you already have significant problems on the first 3-4 meters, you should turn around, as the last part of the section will be similarly difficult.
The fact that you can do the whole thing without a backup is of course true, but it is absolute nonsense. Even experienced people should secure themselves, as a fall can definitely be fatal without securing.
