It was established during World War II as a burial place for Red Army soldiers who died in the German POW camp in Białobrzegi. Approximately 10,000 people are buried here – Soviet prisoners of war of various nationalities, including Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians, and other peoples of the former Soviet Union.
Today, during the ongoing war and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, this place takes on an even deeper and more painful meaning.
