The Keppmühle, which probably dates from the 12th century, was first mentioned in 1569. The mill was a popular inn until 1984. Since then it has been closed due to the high renovation costs and is only used as a residential building. The hiking trail at the Keppmühle through the Keppgrund is currently closed due to a staircase in need of renovation. It's a shame that such an old, beautiful building is partially falling apart.

Since the Keppgrund developed into a popular excursion destination in the 18th and 19th centuries, the Keppmühle soon began operating as a restaurant. Today it is the last remaining mill that has been standing still since 1902. The restaurant business was stopped in 1984. A plaque commemorates frequent visits by Carl Maria von Weber, who liked to wander up from his summer residence in Hosterwitz.
