The Renaissance castle, built in the 16th century, is based on a medieval moated castle. Since there are two places called Schönfeld in the Dresden area and both have a castle, this one won the addition “Zauber” in the name dispute. Although the castle has to struggle with the water of the castle pond and currently nobody can do magic there, "Germany's magic castle" is a gem in the country.
