The Lanstroper lake is one of the most important habitats for migratory and breeding waterfowl in Dortmund, it is the third largest still waters of the city.

The Lanstroper See nature reserve is located in the Dortmund area in the Scharnhorst district, in the Lanstrop district. The Lanstroper See was created around 1963 when a mountain subsided, which reached the water table and thus ensured that this area was permanently flooded. The 8 hectare lake is 5 m deep at its deepest point. The lake is bordered by a narrow belt of reeds and reeds, in which rushes, hedgehog ears, fireweed and nettles also grow. A strip of forest and bushes has grown north of the lake, which provides a habitat for the endangered little water frog, the common frog and the common toad.

Scenic hiking / cycling path from the "Lanstroper Ei" down to the Lanstropper See. A little demanding for a bike. Mountain bikers will find it boring. I thought it was nice.
Greetings René
