Prince Hermann von Pückler-Muskau had the English Bridge built in 1822 not far from the English House. Because the bridge was repeatedly damaged by floods, Prince Friedrich of the Netherlands had the wooden bridge replaced by a stone structure in 1857. Like the double bridge, German soldiers blew up the English Bridge in 1945 to make the advance of the Red Army more difficult.
