Well, a real tower is not that - more like a mini-edition ruin - but you have a magnificent view, which is almost all day in the sun. Ideal for a picnic or sunbathing.

The former Bismarck tower on the Zeigerheimer Berg near Rudolstadt originally served as a pillar of fire. For the inauguration in 1899, a fire could not be lit because the concrete had not yet hardened. In 1950 the building was renamed the Geschwister-Scholl-Turm by the unit of the border troops of the GDR stationed in Rudolstadt (unofficially). Around 1970 the tower's fire boiler was still preserved. The tower has been a victim of vandalism for a number of years, although the building now looks more like a ruin.

Anyone expecting a real tower will be disappointed.
But anyone who is interested in the history of the Bismarck Towers simply has to see it.
It is the oldest Bismarck tower in the world!
You can read more about this on the internet.
There is now also a brochure about it:
Astrid von Killisch-Horn: The Bismarck Tower in Rudolstadt, 160 pages, paperback, ed. from the Friends of the Bismarck Tower Rudolstadt in the Kulturbund e.V. Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district association, Rudolstadt 2023; € 19.95, available from the author and the publishing association.
