"The Burkhardswald church is one of the oldest churches in the church district of Meißen. ... Wood samples in the roof truss have shown that it must have been built around 1470, after a smaller predecessor had stood in the same place in earlier times. The three-aisle, late Gothic Hallenkirche is praised in literature (Saxon Church Gallery) as "one of the most beautifully situated and most beautifully laid out village churches in Saxony".
