Hiking Highlight
The area around the lake is used intensively for local recreation. Bathing has been prohibited for the lake itself since it was recultivated. Among other things, due to pronounced temperature differences - the lake has both shallow and approx. 14 m deep spots - swimming in it is life-threatening and prohibited.

The Höhenfelder See is an approximately 20-hectare quarry pond from a former gravel pit in the area of the city of Cologne on the right bank of the Rhine. It is very easy to walk around. Swimming is also allowed in some places.
