Above the entrance doors of the Church of Saint Peter and Urbanus there is a large stained glass window with the two church patterns: Peter with the key and a book (symbols of his power as leader of the church, which was passed on to the popes); and Urban I as pope and with a large bunch of grapes. When the faithful left the church they saw the patron saints.

Huise's earliest church is said to date from the late 9th century. According to tradition, Saint Adelhardus, Abbot of Corbie (+826), who was probably born in Huise and whose neo-Romanesque statue can be seen in front of the church, made the construction of the church possible thanks to his donations. However, no remains of this church remain.

In the late 13th century a Romanesque church was built, of which the transept has been preserved.

The church was restored several times, most dramatically in 1889 under the supervision of architect August van Assche, so that it now looks pseudo-Romanesque.

It is a homogeneous building with a spacious three-aisled nave, pronounced transept with heavy crossing tower, short presbytery and small flat closed choir.
