Location: Sankt Goar, Rhein-Hunsrück-Kreis, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany
A day shaft was sunk near Werlau in 1936 (driven vertically into the earth). This shaft, initially called Adolf Hitler shaft, was later renamed Werlauer shaft.
The old name is still shadowy but easy to read on the huge concrete wall.

Good hope mine is the name of two lead-zinc ore mines in Rhineland-Palatinate on the Middle Rhine, on the left bank of the Rhine between St. Goar-Fellen and -Werlau, on the right bank of the river between St. Goarshausen-Wellmich and -Ehrenthal.
