Bike Touring Highlight
The Nachtigall colliery is a former coal mine in Bommern. The mine is located at the entrance to the Muttental and is part of the Muttental mining trail. The colliery was one of the largest civil engineering mines in the region. In the mine, lumpy fat coal, which was of good quality, was extracted in civil engineering. Today the LWL-Industriemuseum Zeche Nachtigall is located on the factory premises.

The Muttental is peppered with mining history, which you can drive off and find out. The central place is the colliery Nachtigall. This is preserved as a museum and offers in addition to the history of mining also a brick oven, a walk-in gallery and a restored carrier. It's worth it.
