In the Heidebos you will find a unique variety of coniferous forest, abandoned fields, heathland, sparse grasslands and drifts. Due to the varied mosaic landscape, the nature reserve offers shelter to numerous animals and plants that love both the forest and more open heath.

Enjoy the landscape endlessly, spot rare plants or study colorful butterflies: everything is possible in the Heidebos. Polders and creeks are dominating the North of East Flanders. To the south of it, from Maldegem to Stekene, there is a wide sand ridge on which plants and animals that you would expect in the Kempen, such as heather, nightjar and tree pipit, occur. Majestic lanes and remnants of an old fort: the Heidebos has everything to make visitors feel at home.
