Tips

A total of 142 steps lead up to the Ludwigsturm, a 27-meter-high octagonal plaster construction. If you are at the top, you are at an altitude of 675 meters. That there is one of the most beautiful views of the entire route waiting for you, does not need to be mentioned separately.

Good to know: On weekends and public holidays the tower and the adjacent kiosk are open. On all other days, you can pick up a key at Tourist Information Dannenfels (Oberstraße 14, 67814 Dannenfels) for a deposit and an entrance fee of 1 €.

Very nice view from the top of the tower over the whole region.
If you have a question, you simply turn to the man in the kiosk. Then you get everything "exactly" explained.

There is chestnut honey from the region to buy. Offered as a dark, strong and light, milder variety a delicious rarity.

The kiosk in front of the tower has regional products such as honey and sausages, but also seasonal ice or mulled wine. On weekends was when we were there always open.

Grandiose view over the Palatinate Forest and good food in the kiosk (during opening hours 😉)

Definitely the best all-round view on the Donnersberg!
Built in 1864, the tower is named after the Bavarian King Ludwig II.
