Stuttgart Airport (until 2000 Stuttgart-Echterdingen Airport, IATA code: STR, ICAO code: EDDS) is the international airport of the Baden-Württemberg state capital Stuttgart. It is located mostly in the area of the towns of Leinfelden-Echterdingen and Filderstadt. The first facilities were built in 1936 and expanded to their current state between 1986 and 2004. Stuttgart Airport is the largest airport in Baden-Württemberg and, measured by passenger volume, ranked sixth among the largest airports in Germany in 2019.
Following a resolution of July 15, 2014, the airport was renamed "Stuttgart Airport - Manfred Rommel Airport" (own spelling) in honor of the mayor of Stuttgart, Manfred Rommel.
