    Information according to dresdner-stadtteile.de:

Hofmühlenstraße was first mentioned in 1597 and was originally called Wassergasse, from 1865 Wasserstraße. The name was reminiscent of the Hochplustenche tube trip created in 1541 for the water supply of the Dresden castle. The street leading parallel to the Weißeritzufer was the location of the buildings in the Plauen sub-village, which, in contrast to the village center around the church, was at high risk of flooding. After the destruction of numerous houses during the heavy Weißeritz flood on July 31, 1897, the river side was not rebuilt. Today, the largely preserved buildings on the opposite side of the street are reminiscent of the rural past of Plauen. The half-timbered houses No. 59 and 61 from the 17th and 18th centuries (renovated in 2012) are noteworthy. In the house no. 71 there used to be the well-known “Plauenscher Hof” (photo). In 1904 the street got its current name after the former Hofmühle (Bienertmühle).

In addition to the remaining buildings in Alt-Plauens, various commercial businesses were built in the northern part of the street in the 19th century. The most important was the Plauen malt factory built in 1889. Here raw barley was processed into malt and delivered to the Reisewitz and Plauenscher storage cellars based in Plauen. The factory was destroyed in 1945. In addition, there were numerous smaller companies from various industries, handicraft businesses and shops for local supply.

The Weißeritz floods of August 2002 caused great damage, which washed up the road and seriously damaged some buildings. A man died in the collapse of a residential building on the corner of Würzburger Strasse. In addition, almost all Weißeritz bridges in this area were destroyed or seriously damaged.

Would be even nicer if more old buildings were restored.

Unfortunately, many buildings are very close to decay. :(
