The Korte Klippe, named after the Essen horticultural director Rudolf Korte, is located in the Schellenberger Forest in the Heisingen district. From up here you have a perfect view over the entire Baldeneysee, the transition to the Ruhr and the districts of Fischlaken and Heidhausen. The view is one of the most beautiful and popular in all of Essen.

The Korte Cliff is a side view of the BaldeneySteig.

      The Korte cliff

This viewpoint is located near the Schellenberg hunting lodge on the southern edge of the Schellenberger forest and north of the Baldeneysee, the largest of the six Ruhr reservoirs that was dammed up in 1933. From this point you can see the entire lake from the dam to the transition to the Ruhr west of Kupferdreh. In addition, the Essen suburbs of Fischlaken and Heidhausen, located south of the lake, can be identified. About 600 meters to the west is the ruins of the Neue Isenburg. The geological hiking trail on Lake Baldeney runs below the cliff, where Ruhr sandstone was once mined.

Named after the city master builder from Essen, who had both the Gruga forerunner created as search for the creation of the Baldeney reservoir is responsible. Great vantage point.
