The Gullfoss Falls are impressive. A built platform allows you to observe the waters of the Hvita river flowing into a gigantic fault. In summer, meltwater from the glaciers increases the flow and the river takes on a milky color. It is one of the most magnificent waterfalls in Iceland. It actually attracts a lot of tourists. The advantage is that you can take a bus from Reykjavik. Another advantage: you can transport your bike without having to disassemble it. The waterfall is ideally located on the F-35 or Kjölur road.

One of the largest waterfalls in Iceland. Of course also one of the tourist hotspots. But still worth a detour. Also located right next to the Kjalvegur / Kjölur street.

Gullfoss Waterfall should not be missed on any trip to Iceland. We have been to Iceland twice and went to Gullfoss each time. The last time we visited the Westfjords in the summer we planned two days for the region. Went there for the summer sunset and it was just incredibly beautiful. We will be back definitely. Simply allow enough time - approx. 1.5 - 2 hours - to take in the waterfall and enjoy the different perspectives.
