Hikes to Beinn Damh are for the aficionado. Rising from the wild and remote Coulin Forest region, its long, undulating summit ridge boasts grandstand views of Torridon’s monstrous giants, as well as the peaks of Applecross and the neighbouring Coulin Munros. Built upon the same muscular, tiered sandstone as its Torridonian counterparts, it is a masterpiece of a mountain.
Approaches from the east pass tumbling waterfalls and get you up close to Beinn Damh’s gigantic buttresses and cliffs, dramatically slashed by gullies. From the south, the mountain’s most conspicuous feature is visible: a horseshoe of quartzite scree known as the Stirrup Mark. The north end of the mountain rewards you with gorgeous views of Loch Torridon.
The obvious base for walking routes on Beinn Damh is Torridon, where there’s a good chance of spotting the native deer. Winter conditions close the mountain to all but experienced and equipped mountaineers.
Great peak to walk up to on a fine day. On the way down, do take the little detour to climb Sgurr na Bana Mhoraire - the views from there are really worth it and there are some wind-sheltered steps at the end of the ridge, which are perfect for a picnic.

Really fine Corbett that comes close to rivaling its bigger Torridon neighbours.
