Two former castles (Gemünden Castle / Koppenstein Castle ruins) and the film theme HEIMAT determine this hike. Highlights: The Koppenstein observation tower, the HEIMAT filming location Gehlweiler, the town of Gemünden with its castle and historic town center as well as the wonderful steep passage from the Koppenstein down into the Simmerbachtal. You should have a certain basic level of fitness, since from the starting point in Gemünden to the Koppenstein ruins you have to climb about 300 meters in altitude. But you will be rewarded with a wonderful 360 degree panoramic view over the Hunsrück plateaus.
