Schmidtburg

The castle ruin of the Schmidtburg is not only an impressive building from the Middle Ages, but also an official campground on the Soonwaldsteig. When the sun approaches the horizon in the evening, you can choose a place between the walls - assuming you have registered in advance. Registration with the Burgvogt Hans-Georg Gerlach is best done by phone 06752 - 3160.

This beautifully preserved castle ruin is definitely worth the short detour from Soonwaldsteig. The absolute highlight is an overnight stay in a tent on the ruins. In our case total peace and a very special feeling as "lord of the castle for one night" :)

The Schmidtburg goes back to the blacksmiths of the since the Iron Age resident Celts. These were created off and below the Altburg.

A great castle ruin which is definitely worth a visit. When we visited them on holiday, hell was going on here. One or more large groups had pitched their camps here.

Really beautifull. I ran the Soonwaldsteig and camped at Schmidtburg for a small fee. The Burgvogt, Mr. Gerlach, is a lovable elderly gentleman who regularly looks after the right. I was pleased to meet him and chat with him a bit and could even buy him a Kirner ... (🤫, he can not bring much here 😉)

This dream bow is rightly named. This castle is one of the icing on the cake. It is an impressive building.

A beautiful ruin, which shows the enormous extent of the former castle and also makes the floor plan easy to understand. And the all-round view of the valleys is also worth seeing

The Hahnenbachtal dream loop is a real dream. Very pleasant to go, varied and full of beautiful and exciting moments. The Schmidtburg is one of the absolute highlights.

It is worth looking at the ruin.

This castle complex is simply impressive. The size alone is just gigantic. You should plan a lot of time. We visited them on the way to the Traumschleife Hahnenbachtal
