In the upper Kaitzgrund between Gittersee and Kaitz there used to be several watermills. The most important watermill on the Kaitzbach, however, was the Kaitzer Mühlengut (Altkaitz 6), which from 1670 had the privilege of trading bread and flour in Dresden and belonged to the Kaitz mansion. The history association Kaitz e.V reminds with the table of the 5 mills that were once in the Kaitzgrund.

"The SDAG Wismut uranium ore processing plant in Dresden-Gittersee went into operation in 1950. Its uranium sludge residues were dumped in the Kaitzbach valley. The Kuchenmühle (also Ehrlichsmühle) disappeared under the mud. The A dump was created, which after the earth was covered is now a landscaped hill (also called "Kaitzer Höhe"). The mills in front of the dam - Waltersmühle (previously a farm) and Zschachlitzmühle (previously Lubensky's nursery) were forcibly evacuated and demolished in 1955 because the dam threatened to break." - geschichtsverein-kaitz.de/ausschnitte_2/rundgang/rundgang1-2.pdf
