Eselsplatz (HWN 140)

The Eselsplatz is the first larger resting place for you if you come up here from Osterode via the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg. In addition to a charcoal burner hut, you will find additional seating, including on two wooden donkeys, which you can try out here. 😉 If you are a fan of the Harz hiking pin, you will find a stamp here. If you are looking for short, crisp climbs, then visit the Eselsplatz from the Sösetalsperre or from Lerbach.

A good place to rest.

The donkey place (stamp place 140 of the Harzer hiking needle) is located at 468 m altitude on the Harz Hexenstieg on the "Hundschen Weg" between Lerbach and the Sösetalsperre.

Very nice stamping point only the forest is just saying goodbye.

The rest area gets its name from the donkey drivers, who supplied the miners in the Upper Harz area with grain from the Osteroder Kornmagazin.

Very nice to have a rest at the Koehlerhütte.
We were told that the hut had been rebuilt because it had previously been a victim of vandalism.
There is also only one wooden donkey next to the hut.

At that time, this great kitten was reached for protection against wind and weather for hikers and forest workers.

You can relax here after a steep ascent. A refuge also offers tables and benches.

From the parking lot Sösetalsperre about 800mtr quite steep uphill.

The donkeys were a bit battered during our visit, the rest area in itself beautiful, after the short but crisp steep climb great for a breather.

Too bad only the rioters have ensured that, to protect the huts from destruction (!!!) 😠 Some of the beautiful kitten were shut off just behind the entrance.
The cabins are primarily shelter cabins from bad weather, NO party zones.
The civilization garbage can also be taken down from the mountain after the break.
