The lake referred to here as Grumnitzsee is actually the "Torfstich Grumnitz" or Torfstichsee. This is an artificial lake that was created by the peat extraction carried out here from 1983 to 1990. The Gumnitz is a small watercourse that rises in the south-west lying Gumnitzwiesen and flows through the Torfstichsee towards Schlagentinsee.
