Hiking

The area around the Kreuzberg gained importance as early as the 17th century, when diabase and limestone were extracted from the quarries. The lime kilns erected here supplied burnt lime for the new construction of the Planitz Castle and Manor. Remains of such a lime kiln can still be seen on the so-called "Bastei". The two quarries in the landscape protection area are a geological natural monument "lime and diabase quarry" testimony to the historical mining of ores and rocks.
