The school has a sad history: shortly before the end of the war, the NAZIS turned the school into an external unit of the Neuengamme concentration camp. On April 20, 1945, 20 Jewish children, 2 Dutch nurses, 2 French doctors and 24 Soviet prisoners of war were hanged by SS men in the basement.
