As a result of the heavy storm surge in 1962, this barrage was built in 1962. The storm surge barrier is primarily intended to block the influx of water during a storm surge and thereby protect the harbor facilities and the Tiefstack power plant. From here you can enjoy a beautiful view to the west on the Hamburg skyline and on the Billwerder bay in the east.
