If you are in KL, you should make a detour to the Batu Caves. The big statue alone is worth it - if you take the more than 200 steps, you will find an imposing cave with temples and shrines. It is definitely worth it.
You should only stay away from the monkeys on the stairs and if possible do not take anything edible with you, they can be quite intrusive.
