The late Gothic hall church with remains of a Romanesque cross church has been a protected heritage since 1939. The last restoration of the church dates from 1971-1973. The artful interior includes a late Renaissance altar dedicated to Saint Barbara, a Baroque confessional from 1693 and an 18th-century pulpit in particularly fine carvings. You will also find a calvary and some 17th and 18th century tombstones with Old Flemish texts.

The Sint-Martinuskerk in Westvleteren (Vleteren) is a late Gothic, three-aisled hall church, which replaced a Romanesque single-aisled cruciform church with a four-sided crossing tower. The church building was built in yellow brick with iron sandstone parts that still refer to the older, Romanesque construction. The church was partially rebuilt and restored in the first half of the 18th century. The church has been protected as a monument since 1939.
