Domain of De Lovie - Kasteelpark.

The castle of De Lovie dates from 1856 and is built in neoclassical style.

The Castle Park is a remnant of the original English landscape park. A number of important elements of the English landscape park are still clearly visible: the partly preserved avenue of red beech trees, the water features with a bridge, various sightlines, bushes and hedges, a number of remarkable trees and the park elements that are protected as a monument.

The Canadabos is located north of De Lovie and Canadaweg.

      Secret V1 base in Proven
Under the crowns of the Canadabos in Poperinge hides a secret V1 launch base from the Second World War.
When you walk into the forest from the Canadaweg you soon notice a concrete path that sends you straight to the remains of the V1 base.

It was one of eighteen V1 bases that the German army built in West Flanders. Forced labourers, especially Russians, were allowed to do the dirty work. They were locked up in labor camps in Markhove and Proven.

      Target London
From Proven, the German army wanted to bombard London with V1s, 200 kilometers as the crow flies. The flying bomb had a range of up to 240 kilometers.
