    Hanstein Castle is considered to be the largest castle ruin in Central Germany - but even without this distinction, the huge complex is a must visit for all castle lovers due to its location above Bornhagen. But even if you can not warm yourself too much for medieval walls, it's worth making a detour to the castle wall or the towers: from here you have a fantastic view over the hills of the Eichsfeld up to the mountains of the Thuringian Forest and the Hoher Meissner ,

    March to October:

    Monday to Sunday 10am to 6pm

    November:

    Monday to Sunday 10am to 4pm

    December to February:

    on weekends and public holidays 10am to 4pm
