Hiking Highlight (Segment)
In the source area of the Ilke are the "high bridges". This is the name of a forest village where old hunting lanes between Pillnitz and Lohmen cross the notched cuttings on bridges from the time of the Electorate of Saxony.
The gentlemen also went hunting in this area and rode among the castles and palaces in Pillnitz, Lohmen and Stolpen so for themselves. The bridges made the ride more comfortable, but the horses did not have to go down to the valley and back up. And they (the bridges, not the horses) gave the landscape an additional charm because it was also built for the eye. According to the no longer connected Gasthof pages, the manuscripts of Marcolini and his architect F. Exner can be clearly seen on the Hohe Brücke with its bends and bows.
