Architect government master builder Koch built the district office in neo-Renaissance style as the seat of the Moers district administration.
1845 – 1918
There is a three-class franchise. Only those who pay taxes are allowed to vote, the more taxes someone pays in the district office, the more voting weight they have.
1923
In the course of the Rhineland riots, the district council office is protected from the Rhineland separatists by the construction of a barbed wire enclosure.
1933 – 1945
The district office is used by the National Socialists as a regional power center.
