Old Mill in the Dong

The "Old Mill in the Dong" was first mentioned in 1490. The current mill dates from 1874 and was until 1963 (last with electric drive) in operation. The wings were reconstructed in 1987 and are functional. The mill is today a residential building.

The old mill in the Dong is not just a nice subject for a nice photo. Thanks to the convenient location right next to the North German dump in the middle of the beautiful Dong, you can plan wonderful tours by bike from here. The dump can be reached in a few minutes. From here you have every opportunity to discover the Lower Rhine or the foothills of the Ruhr area on foot or by bike. Here you are in the country and with relatively easy planning you can stay in the country over long distances and only cross main roads occasionally.

Anyone who puts two euros into the machine can set the wind blades of the old mill in motion for 5 minutes.
