This small church is considered to be the oldest church in the Diocese of Trier, which in turn is the oldest diocese in Germany. The beginnings of St. Antonius go back to the year 1403. A bell anchored in the wooden frame can be used as an outside bell, while there is also a bell in the tower. Curious: Two bells are also depicted in the coat of arms of Kottenborn.

The St. Anthony Chapel in Kottenborn is dedicated to St. Anthony the Hermit. According to the year 1525 in a keystone, the late Gothic choir was built in that year.
The wooden altar, which dates from 1790, has a rotating tabernacle. In a niche above the altar stands a wooden figure of the Virgin Mary, with the two saints St. Anthony the Hermit, patron saint of the chapel, and St. Nicholas on consoles to her sides.
