The Hinterm Horn lake is located in the southeast of Hamburg in the Vier- und Marschlanden, south of Neuallermöhe in Bergedorf. The groundwater-fed lake was created between 1978 and 1982 when sand was extracted for the construction of the motorway and the elevation of Neuallermöhe.

On the northwestern bank is the bathing area with a sandy beach and a 20 meter wide lawn. There is no separate non-swimmer area.

Caution: There are already abrupt edges near the bank where the water suddenly becomes very deep. This is typical of a quarry pond. There are no lifeguards.
